How we get the numbers
Three kinds of data, never mixed
- Official minimum Union contract minimums from The Animation Guild (IATSE Local 839) PDFs. This is the legal floor, not what people earn.
- Posted range Ranges printed in a studio's own job posting, required by pay-transparency laws. Link included.
- Self-reported Anonymous entries from the public SaltyAnimators sheet. Unverified and often years old. Gender, comments and anything identifying are removed.
Hourly rates are annualized at 2,080 hours; weekly-only rates are shown as weekly ÷ 40. Anything with fewer than 3 data points is marked low sample. Unclear rows are held back for review. Sources: TAG contracts & wages and the studios' official job boards (Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, SmartRecruiters, career sites). No aggregators. The Editors Guild (Local 700) rates need a member login, so they aren't included. Updated weekly; last update Oct 15, 2026.
